Mixed martial arts (MMA) allows for a combination of training both stand-up techniques like punches and kicks, as well as grappling and self-defence style techniques. With sport specific exercises you'll work your cardio and build up some great resistance. You'll see your strength and flexibility increase quickly. We can help you get into the best shape of your life and enjoy the workout while you're doing it.

Many people are familiar with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that was introduced to the American audience in the early 1990s by the Gracie family. Royce Gracie represented his family and their form of combat known as Brazilian Jiu Jitsu . Early versions of the UFC were designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of one martial art against another. Royce Gracie clearly showed the effectiveness of his family's martial art. The future of franchises like the UFC would assist in the development of mixed martial arts, as competitors would cross-train in both stand-up and ground fighting systems.

Today MMA has, in many ways, become its own style of martial arts. Though it borrows heavily from styles like jiu jitsu, muay thai, and more, competitions like the UFC, Pride, and others have created a niche for the development of this art. Mixed Martial Arts is not simply a compilation of other martial arts styles, but is its own entity. Though still in its youth, mixed martial arts is here to stay.
